Streamlight Stinger LED
Are you looking at buying a streamlight stinger, but not sure if you want to spend the money for it? Well, check out the rest of my review and determine for yourself if this is the right light for you.
I think that the size of a light is a very important factor when purchasing one. First, you need to think about what you are going to be using the Stinger flashlight for. For example, are you a law enforcement officer that will be carrying it on your belt, or someone who will keep it on a shelf by the backdoor to take outside with you at night? Either way, the size of the light you need will be determined by what you are doing with it.
The Streamlight Stinger LED is 9.23″ long and weighs 13.6 oz. I think this is a very balanced light for whatever purpose you are using it. It is light enough to carry and powerful enough to give plenty of light.
The Stinger flashlights are known for their brightness. This light comes with three different settings that each provide different powers. The first power comes in at a whopping 200 lumens, which will blind an assailant if needed. Second power of the light is rated at 100 lumens, followed by the third power coming in at 50 lumens. This light also has a strobe feature for disorienting or signaling your location, whichever is needed.
The battery life of the Stinger flashlights are determined by the power setting you choose. When turned on to the highest setting, 200 lumens, the battery averages two full hours of run time. The middle setting of 100 lumens normally runs for three hours and forty-five minutes, while the low setting at 50 lumens runs for around seven hours. Strobe setting allows the battery to last for up to five hours and thirty minutes.
The batteries are a rechargeable 3.6v battery, which can be charged up to 1,000 times. The Streamlight Stinger flashlight comes with a snap in charger that can be mounted on a non-heat sensitive wall using two screws, which makes it very easy to charge when it is not in use. The charger is also capable of 12v or 110v charging so that you can charge it at home or in your car.
The LED on the Streamlight Stinger uses C4 LED technology, which is impervious to shock and has nearly 50,000 hour life expectancy. This is far superior over the xenon gas filled bulbs with only a 30 hour life span.
The Stinger flashlight is made of an aircraft-grade aluminum and has been coated with a heavy-duty slip-resistant rubber which ensures you will get years of life from this light without it wearing out.
It also features a deep dish parabolic reflector which exhibits a very intense beam with sufficient peripheral light to help you find your way.
The body of the Stinger flashlights have a head-mounted switch, making operation of the three modes very easy.
Internally the electronics have regulators that control the intensity to help create very efficient battery life in all three settings. The electronics are also protected as the construction of Streamlight Stinger has an IPX4 water-resistant rating, which means that it has been tested by splashing water on it from all directions. This means that if you are out in the rain the light will stay safe, but if you drop it in a lake it will probably harm your light. This light has also been tested and has 3 meter impact resistance rating.
If you are in a situation where you use your light for long periods of time, ex. law enforcement officer’s working at night, you can purchase an extra battery pack so that you can be charging one while using the other.
So what do you do if you have an extra battery pack and need to charge the light at the same time? Get the Streamlight Stinger piggyback charger. This charger allows you to do just that, charge your light while also charging your extra battery pack.
I hope that my review has helped you to make up your mind and decide if this is the light for you. If it is and you have made up you mind, then Click Here to go and purchase the light now. If not, I have added my personal pros and cons below for you to consider also.
A few of my personal pros and cons would be:
Pros-The Stinger flashlight is a very well built light and would be bright enough to do anything I ever needed to with a flashlight. The battery life of it seems to be above average when compared to other lights this size.
Cons-The Streamlight Stinger is a little high priced, but you do get what you pay for. There are a lot of cheaper lights out there, but they just don’t seem to last near as long as this one.
